The event will be held two miles south of Greenville at the Greenville Recreation Area.
This free event consists of handmade arts and crafts, live bluegrass, gospel, and country music -- A living history encampment -- and plenty of food will be available.
The event is a partnership with the Wayne County Historical Society, US Army Corp of Engineers and Mingo Job Corps.

Please come and help The Stars and Stripes Museum reach it's goal of $8.000 for new exhibits and repairs. We need 350 people to come by the Dexter Elks Lodge on Saturday, May 19th between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm to test drive a Ford vehicle. Must be at least 18 years old to participate. This fundraiser will not cost you anything but will help The Stars and Stripes Museum continue to be a free museum and operate 5 days a week.
Coach Pitch is for any boy or girl who will be 6 years old but who will not turn 8 years old before August 1, 2018. A requirement is for their family to live, work, or own property in Poplar Bluff. A birth certificate must be submitted for all first-year participants at time of registration and for other participants upon request. The fee is $10. Games will be played on Saturday mornings, weather permitting, at McLane Park.

The Junior Tennis Program is for any boy or girl who will be entering kindergarten through eighth grade. The program will run May 29 through June 7. Grades K-1 will be held 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Grades 2-3 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Grades 4-5 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Grades 6 to 8 from 10:45 a.m. to noon. Actual times will be determined by number of participants in each age group. The program will be held at the Poplar Bluff High School tennis courts. Fee is $15.00 plus one unopened can of Penn or Wilson tennis balls. Participants must provide their own tennis racket and should bring drinking water to each class. All clinics will be aimed towards beginning to intermediate players.

There will be an Autism Conference hosted by the Butler County Community Resource Council on May 4th, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. The conference will begin at 10:00 am and go to 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided and registration information will be distributed the first week of April.
The 2018 Independence Day Celebration will be held on June 30th at Riverfront Park. The festivities will kick off at 3:00 PM with the Mr. & Miss Current River Pageant sponsored by E&S Pharmacy. After the pageant Dr. Fever and the Venus Fly Trap will have you grooving and moving to some oldies but goodies. There will be vendors, food, kids games, a dunking booth and so much more. You can purchase raffle tickets for the 2 rifles donated by Countryside Chevrolet and Current River Ford that the chamber will be giving away that evening. The festivities will close with a beautiful fireworks display sponsored by People’s Community Bank. Altrusa International of Poplar Bluff, Inc. is having the Poor Man's Dinner at the Masonic Complex on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A $5 donation includes Granny's Ham and Beans, slaw, cornbread, drink and dessert. Donations from the 9th Annual Poor Man's Dinner will be used for local literacy projects in Poplar Bluff, such as Book Bingo at O'Neal School and to aid community service organizations like Meals for Wheels and the Historic Train Depot. The Kennett Schola Cantorum will offer its annual concert on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 222 N. Main St., in Kennett, Missouri. Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited. The concert is presented by Friends of Music.
The program will include choral music by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Gregor Aichinger, Thomas Morley, John Wilbye, Robert Lucas de Pearsall, John L. Hatton, Charles Villiers Stanford, Benjamin Britten, and Morten Lauridsen.
