Tickets are on sale now for the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. We invite you to take a stroll with us through a winter wonderland and join us as we honor the 2017 Citizen of the Year and 2017 Educator of the Year. 

The Banquet will be held January 5, 2018, at Murray Event Venue. Dinner is being catered by Tasteful Creations Catering and will be served at 6:00 p.m.

Tickets are $27 and due to limited seating, ticket sales have been limited to 130 tickets this year.

The Kennett Schola Cantorum

The Kennett Schola Cantorum will offer its annual concert on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at 7:30 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 222 N. Main St., in Kennett, Missouri.  Admission is free, and the public is cordially invited.  The concert is presented by Friends of Music.

The program will include choral music by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Gregor Aichinger, Thomas Morley, John Wilbye, Robert Lucas de Pearsall, John L. Hatton, Charles Villiers Stanford, Benjamin Britten, and Morten Lauridsen.

Fill the Fire Drive

The 12th Annual Fill the Fire Truck Food and Non-perishiable Items Drive, sponsored by First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will be held November 18, 2017, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the 10 Box located at the corner of PP Highway and Shelby Road.

The food drive will benefit St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank and Child Concern in Poplar Bluff.

17.8% of county residents have daily food insecurity. The state of Missouri  average is 16.4%.
Monetary donations may also be given.

The paricipants can purchase almost $3 worth of food with each dollar that is donated.

Donations will be split equally between the two organizations.

Highway K Volunteer Fire Department Fund Raiser and Chili Supper

Hwy K Volunteer Fire Department is having there Annual Fundraiser/Chili Supper with a Tire Raffle of $300 .00 tires, donated by D & D Tires, art sale, pre acution, and auction with Eileen Melton, an International Wildlife artist and our neighbor. Eileen is donating several number matching artist proofs, some of which have been sold out since 1995-1996 are for sale. All are matted and framed with certificates of authenticity from Eileen. 100% of proceeds are being donated to HWY K VFD by Mrs. Melton.

There will be a bake auction, wonderful chili dinner, with all the fixin's, and a fun night for all!

Delightful songs and side-splitting shenanigans abound in this production, a comedic retelling of The Princess and the Pea. The musical follows Princess Winnifred, who must pass an impossible test and outwit the intolerable Queen Aggravain to marry her beloved Prince Dauntless.

Baseball....

Entry fee-$125 (all proceeds go to the Jason Rose shcolarship fund) 7 and 8 year old will play on pitching machine and 9-12 will be live arm. We will follow the rules of the Poplar Bluff league.

Softball....

Entry fee - $150 (all proceeds go to the Jason Rose scholarship fund)

*If we get enough teams there will be 3 divisions*

ALL DIVISIONS will have a 3 Game Guarantee Bracket.

T-Shirts will be given to the winning team in each division!

Competitive division – 3 HR’s per game then outs (Unlimited HR bracelets can purchased by anyone in the competitive division for $10 ea).

*taking the first 6 teams for the COMP division

REC division – 2 HR’s per game then outs (only ONE unlimited HR bracelet per team can be purchased for $10).

*taking the first 6 teams for the REC division

FUN DIVISION (SUPER-REC) – this division is for teams just wanting to come out & have fun! No competitive teams or rec level teams allowed please. ZERO HR’s allowed & metal bats ONLY in this division!

*taking the first 6 teams for the FUN division

RULES

We will be using a Mat in all divisions for Balls & Strikes (we would appreciate anyone that will volunteer to Umpire some games!) Approximately a 6’ to 10’ height limit on pitches (remember the umpires are VOLUNTEERS please don’t argue balls and strikes.

Softballs need to be an optic yellow .44/400 or lower compression ball. BALL MUST HAVE AN NSA, ASA OR USSSA STAMP. Guys can use a 12” ball & girls can use either a 12” or an 11” optic yellow ball.

Hitters will start with a 1/1 count with no courtesy foul.

There will be a 55 minute time limit for every game EXCEPT the championship games. No time limit in the Championship games!

Run rules are 20 after 3 innings, 15 after 4 innings, & 10 after 5 innings.

*We will also have awesome silent auction items along with a 50/50 raffle!

This family friendly event will be fun for everyone! Children 4-14 are invited to fish at the Lost Creek Recreation Area. We will provide the supplies including bait, rod and tackle for the day. Lunch will be provided. bring a lawn chair. Missouri Department of Conservation will be providing an Archery Range. You can pre-register at the Visitor Center, Millies Gas Station, K&J Station, Country Convenience, Rhodes 101 Wappapello, and the Management Office. We Are Teal Strong | UCAN 2017

Please join us on September 15, 2017 at 9 a.m. in The Bank of Missouri parking lot to honor those that have lost their battle to Ovarian Cancer and to celebrate those that are still fighting the good fight. We will be saying a few words of inspiration during the opening ceremony and then we will be launching teal balloons to show our love and support. 

While this event is free, we encourage a donation of what you are able to give to UCAN to help local patients with expenses.
