The Sikeston Jaycees announced the 2015 entertainment and event line-up for the 63rd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, taking place Aug. 5 – 8, 2015.

This year’s entertainment line-up features a well-rounded group of artists from established newcomers to artists whose hits have spanned the decades.

Cole Swindell

Kicking off the rodeo on Wednesday, Aug. 5, is ACM New Artist of the Year Nominee, Cole Swindell. The rising artist received the highest selling debut single from a solo country male in 2013 according to Billboard, and is nominated for 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards Best New Artist of the Year.

Swindell is also an accomplished songwriter, having penned hits for Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett, Craig Campbell, Scotty McCreery and Florida Georgia Line, to name a few.

Loyal rodeo fans may recall meeting Swindell previously. In 2009 Swindell attended the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo while selling merchandise for Luke Bryan, who performed at the rodeo that year.

American Bull Fighting

Back again this year, American Bullfighting will be held Thursday, Aug. 6.

“American bullfighting is a freestyle form of bullfighting developed in rodeo. It’s a 70-second competition where the bullfighters, typically the rodeo clowns, avoid the bull by dodging, jumping and use of barrels,” says De Bizzell, Jaycee Marketing Chair. “It’s a really exciting event where we bring in bulls designated solely for bullfighting.”

Joe Diffie

Headlining Thursday’s musical performance is a Grammy winner and nominee, and an ACM winner with more than 20 Top-10 Singles, Joe Diffie.

Diffie brings more than two decade’s worth of chart-toppers to an exciting Thursday night. With hits like “John Deere Green,” “Pickup Man,” “Honky Tonk Attitude,” “Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox,” and many more, Diffie is expected to showcase the classic country style for which he’s so well known.

Chris Young

Friday, Aug. 7 features Grammy Nominee Chris Young. Some may recall Young was 2006 Nashville Star Winner, a singing competition that aired on USA Network and produced such talents as Miranda Lambert and Kacey Musgraves.

Young is also a four-time ACM nominee, two-time American Country Awards winner and CMA winner. With hits like “Gettin’ You Home (The Black Dress Song),” “Aw Naw,” “Tomorrow,” and “Lonely Eyes,” Young brings one of the best country acts to the rodeo on Friday.

Breast Cancer Awareness Night

Breast Cancer Awareness Night returns to the rodeo on Saturday, Aug. 8. A portion of proceeds from the evening will benefit the local American Cancer Society and patrons are encouraged to wear pink in support of the cause.

Aaron Lewis

Closing out the four-day event on Saturday, Aug. 8 is Aaron Lewis. Lewis credits his rediscovery of country music to his grandfather’s influence from his childhood, as well as his friend and tour-mate Kid Rock.

As a solo country artist Lewis has enjoyed the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, as well as CMT Music Award nominations. Lewis wrote all but one song on his album The Road and has collaborated with George Jones, Charlie Daniels and Friday night performer Chris Young.
